Our Story

Chapter 1

To reinvent jewelry we don't need to follow conventions; by having the necessary audacity to face our aspirations, Mustraus was founded, a brand that dares to be different.

To reinvent jewelry, there is no need to follow conventions; it is by having the courage to pursue our aspirations that Mustraus was founded, a brand that dares to be different, and this is made possible because we share the same vision.

Every creator carries within them a mark that defines them, a powerful influence that shapes their vision of the world.

Having grown up in Brussels, we, Marvin and Melvin, two brothers, were surrounded by Art Deco, a style that left a profound impression on us.

Art Deco became our gateway into the world of art, a way to explore culture and artistic movements while awakening our curiosity.

As we walked through the streets of Brussels, we discovered Art Deco buildings such as Villa Empain, Palais Stoclet, and the Maison de la Radio. Their presence immediately captured our attention and stirred a deep fascination within us. Observing these buildings, we began researching them and discovered Art Deco, its history, geometric lines, strong forms, and sculptural volumes. This discovery sparked our curiosity and encouraged us to explore other styles, gradually expanding our knowledge of art and design.

As we explored various forms of art, the work of metal deeply touched us. We were struck by the perfect balance between artistic expression, technical precision, and the ability to convey a message, qualities that jewelry embodies so well.

A well-designed piece of jewelry is a work of art that can be held in the hand, an intimate object charged with meaning, expressing a message while maintaining a harmonious balance between size and form.

For one of us, the first encounter with jewelry happened at the age of 15, in a workshop in the heart of Brussels. It was an initiation, his first contact with metal, with its precious nature, its hardness, and its malleability.
This moment was a revelation: the contact with metal never left him, and its unique texture captivated him. He was drawn to this art and sought a way to get closer to it.

Just creation...

He began learning the lost-wax casting technique through a one-year training in a Brussels workshop. This ancestral method involves sculpting a wax model, shaping it into the desired form, then replacing the wax with molten metal through a casting process. Once cooled, the raw piece is refined, sanded, and polished to reveal its full brilliance.

After mastering traditional techniques, he turned to jewelry design using 3D software, opening new creative possibilities and unmatched precision in shaping volumes and forms.

In this pursuit of progress, obtaining the “Certified Diamond Grader” diploma from HRD Antwerp, the European authority for diamond grading and certification, became essential. This training enhanced his expertise and opened new creative paths.

Chapter 2, Audacity

After three years of learning, his skills in jewelry had been refined, and a new calling emerged: to create and shape metal according to his own vision. For him, jewelry lacked renewal. He wanted to rethink classical codes and offer something unique. It was time to fully dedicate himself to his creative vision.

We began designing a collection of rings with distinctive designs, drawing on our knowledge and research into innovation in art, design, and architecture. Each piece was intended to have its own identity, some standing out through unique shapes, others through abstract volumes.

Some initial designs proved impractical for everyday wear. We reworked these pieces to ensure they remained expressive while functional, designed to be worn as symbols of personal aspiration. Ergonomics and comfort guided our approach, while preserving the elegance and precision of Art Deco in a contemporary vision.

Art Deco teaches us refined and sophisticated elegance, built around symmetrical and clean lines. By combining this essence with our modern approach, marked by fluid curves, organic shapes, lightness, and our airy touch, we create avant-garde pieces that balance aesthetics and comfort.

For a year, piece by piece, creation by creation, a desire grew within us: to see our creations come to life and share them. This thirst for sharing quickly transformed into a larger ambition: to create a brand, a strong identity.

Naturally, this brand emerged as a joint project, as we have always worked together and support each other in our creations. The skills of each of us are complementary, forming a strength that is fully reflected in our brand.

After many hesitations and reflections, the decision became clear. Our journey, experiences, and encounters naturally led us to create a brand that places creativity at the heart of its approach.

Today, Mustraus is proud to meet you.
