A brooch specially designed in homage to the Villa Empain, which is more than just a setting; it is a complete work of art, conceived as such by its architect Michel Polak. Therefore, the aim was not to focus on a single architectural detail, but to convey the overall intention of the building and the subtle dialogues between its spaces.

The brooch thus consists of four vertical lines, touching different characteristic points of the building and its property. The choice of line is in keeping with a refined interpretation of Art Deco: strong, structuring lines, whose silhouette is preserved while simplifying the form. This abstraction also reinforces Mustraus' vision of light jewellery, almost suspended in mid-air.
The design also incorporates the property as a whole. As the land was acquired before the villa was built, it is an integral part of its history and urban setting. The villa cannot exist without its site: this fundamental relationship has been incorporated into the design of the brooch.
A crossbar connects the four vertical lines. It is placed at the symbolic location of the terrace, a true junction between the interior and exterior. To prevent it from visually dominating the whole, this bar has been brushed, while the vertical lines have been polished to a shine, a signature feature of Mustraus. This contrast in finishes creates a clear reading of the elements and gives the impression that the vertical lines are floating, reinforcing the effect of lightness and levitation.
Beyond its architectural homage, this brooch is a manifesto of design, highlighting Mustraus's expertise and creative abilities. The piece was entirely handmade in 925 silver, affirming a demanding artisanal approach in the service of contemporary design. It is part of a very limited edition of 30 pieces. At the launch of Mustraus, 20 brooches were given away, including some to the Boghossian Foundation and Villa Empain, in homage to the location and its history. Ten pieces are now available for sale, reinforcing the rarity and symbolic significance of this inaugural creation.
